The Council of Architecture (CoA) will conduct the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) 2020 for the candidates interested in admission to the undergraduate graduate programmes in Architecture (BArch). The council has been constituted by the Government of India for registration of Architects, standards of education, recognised qualifications and standards of professional conduct and etiquette.

NATA is being conducted every year with an objective to provide a single scheme of examination facilitating prospective students all over the country for admission in architecture programmes. The exam was started in 2006 to help students avoid appearing in multiple aptitude tests. The eligibility for admission to five-year Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) degree course will also be decided through NATA 2020.  The eligibility conditions for NATA 2020 will be prescribed by CoA and duly approved by the Central Government. The eligibility condition must be strictly adhered by candidates and followed in all Architectural Institutions over the country.

Similar to JEE Main, NATA 2020 will also be conducted twice by CoA. The first phase of the exam will tentatively be held in the second week of April while the second phase of the exam will be conducted in the second week of July. About NATA 2020

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is a national level undergraduate exam which is conducted by Council of Architecture (COA) for admission to 5-year B.Arch programme. Through NATA 2020, candidates can get admission into B.Arch programme offered by Government, Government-aided, Private Unaided, University Departments and Deemed Universities of the country. Previously NATA was conducted once every year, but from 2019, the exam will be conducted twice a year - first on April and the second on July. The admit card of NATA 2020 for the two attempts will be released separately. Candidates can appear in one or both the attempts of NATA 2020. If the candidate appears in both attempts, then the best of the two scores will be considered. The eligibility criteria of NATA 2020 has also been changed, with diploma candidates currently no longer eligible for admission. The question paper of the exam has two parts- Part A containing Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) was conducted online, while Part B (Drawing test) was held in offline mode. 




NATA 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates appearing for the entrance exam need to meet the below mentioned eligibility criteria of NATA prescribed by the authorities. The eligibility criteria includes the parameters like  qualifying examination, minimum marks required, age limit etc:

Qualifying Examination: Candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination.
Please note that from the academic session 2019, Diploma holders are no longer eligible for admission to architecture program.
Qualifying Marks: Candidate must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in mathematics, physics, and chemistry taken together. Additionally, the candidate needs to score minimum 50% marks in aggregate in 10+2.
Age limit: Minimum 17 years of age as on July 31, 2020







NATA 2020 Application Process

NATA 2020 application form will be available in online mode. Mentioned below are the steps to be followed to fill and submit the application form of NATA: 
NATA 2020 Application Form- Steps to Follow
Step 1 – Register- To fill the application form of NATA 2020, registration has to be done by firstly submitting details like name, mobile number, date of birth, and valid email id. Also, choose a username and create a password for future log-ins.    
Step 2 – Login to fill the application form : Use the username and password to log-in and enter all the requisite details like personal, communication, and academic information. Also, choose three exam centres in order of preference.  
Step 3 – Upload Scanned Images of  Documents: In the prescribed format by the authorities, candidates will have to upload scanned images of their photograph, signature and community certificate (if applicable).    
Step 4 – Generation of Application Number- Once uploading of documents is done, candidates will have to submit the application form. On submission of NATA 2020 application form, an 8-digit application number will be generated.
Step 5 – Pay Application  Fee: Prescribed application fee need to be paid in online mode (credit/debit card, or net banking).   
Step 6 – Take a Print out of Confirmation page: Once all the above-mentioned steps are completed, the application confirmation page will be displayed. Download this the confirmation page and take a printout of it for future reference.


NATA 2020 Syllabus



NATA 2020 Exam Pattern

NATA exam pattern will enable candidates to know about the marking scheme, duration of examination, type of questions asked, mode of exam and more. Candidate are advised to check the exam pattern before starting their preparation procedure.
NATA question paper will be divided into two part- Part A and B
Questions Type/Mode of Examination: 
  • Part A will carry Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) which candidates need to answer in online mode. 
  • Part B will carry subjective type questions that need to be answered in offline mode on the A4 drawing sheet.
Number of Questions in Each Part: 
  • Part A will have 20 questions from Mathematics and 40 from General Aptitude sections
  • Part B will carry two questions. These will be Drawing-based questions.
Exam Duration: 3 hours will be allotted to complete the examination  out of which the Maths and General Aptitude test will be for 60 minutes while the drawing test will be for 120 minutes.
Marking scheme: In part A, 2 marks will be awarded for every correct response. While in Part B, each carries 40 marks. There is no negative marking.

  3. Login with the credentials: Application Number and Password
  4. Enter the captcha provided
  5. Click on Login
  6. Download the NATA 2020 scorecard.

nata 2017The NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) is a national level aptitude test organized by Council of Architecture. This exam is organized for those aspirants looking for admission in architecture courses like B.Arch offered by top institutions of the country. This test measures the aptitude of the candidate for the field of architecture. From 2017 onwards, NATA exam will be conducted once in a year on 16th April 2017 via offline mode. NATA score cards are considered by various government, government aided and private colleges or universities for admission in B.Arch programme. Here in this article, we are providing information regarding NATA 2017 including the eligibility criteria, important dates, registration, etc.

NATA 2017 Registration

NATA 2017 Registration Form will be filled & submitted only through online mode. The registration will be started from the last week of December 2016. Last date for online registration will be 02th February 2017. No other mode will be entertained for registration. Candidates can keep the printout copy of the filled NATA Application Form 2017 for further reference.

Registration Fee:

The NATA registration fee is Rs. 1250/- for all the candidates. Fee payment can be done through online mode (debit/credit card, net banking) or offline mode (by cash payment in any branch of ICICI Bank).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should have completed or appearing 12th or equivalent examination with Mathematics to apply for NATA.
  • 10+2 (diploma) in any stream candidates are also eligible to apply.
  • International Baccalaureate diploma passed/appearing after 10th are also eligible to apply.
  • There is not any lateral admission criteria for admission in any stage/year of B.Arch.
  • The minimum age limit is 17 years as on 31st July 2017.

NATA Exam Pattern

  • Type of Exam: The NATA exam pattern comprises of three parts, i.e. Mathematics, General Aptitude & Drawing.
  • Mode: The exam will be conducted through offline mode (pen and paper based).
  • Questions: Total 62 questions will be asked.
  • Marking Scheme: In Mathematics & General Aptitude section, 2 marks will be given for each correct response.
  • Duration: The exam duration will be three hours.
  • Negative Marking: There is not any provision of negative marking in this exam.

NATA Registration Dates

Here, we are updating the official date schedule for NATA Registration:
  • Online Registration Starts: Last week of December 2016
  • Last Date for Online Registration: 02th February 2017
  • Image uploads allowed till: 30th January 2017
  • Fee payment allowed till: 31st January 2017

  • Correction window: 15th Feb (10:30 AM) to 21st Feb (11:59 PM)

How to Apply

Candidates can register for the NATA 2017 only through online process. Here, we mentioned step wise step procedure how to apply:
  • Visit to the official site of NATA (link will be given above).
  • Click on the link “Click here to register for NATA 2017”.
  • If you are a new user then click on “Register as a New User”.
  • Enter your Email ID, Password, confirm Password & captcha verification & Click on “Register” Button. Candidates User Account has been successfully registered.
  • Candidates have to check their email ID & verify their email ID for further procedure.
  • Now, candidates have to re-login again by entering their Email ID, Password & captcha verification & Click on “Login” Button.
  • Read the instruction carefully.
  • Click on “NATA Profile”.
  • Candidates have to fill their basic information & upload their scanned photograph and click on save button.
  • Now, candidates have to pay the NATA registration fee. By clicking on “Pay NATA Fees”.
  • Candidates have to click on “Purchase New Form”.
  • After the fee payment, click on the submit button.
  • Candidates have to select the exam date and exam center, according to their preference.
  • Take the printout of the filled NATA application form 2017 for future use.

NATA Syllabus

The NATA syllabus has been divided into three parts, i.e. drawing, Mathematics & General Aptitude. The drawing test will measure the ability to sketch a given object, sense of perspective drawing, understanding of proportion and scale, etc. The detailed syllabus is mentioned below:

Mathematics:

Algebra, Logarithms, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Matrices, Binomial Theorem (positive integral index), Trigonometry, Coordinate geometry of two dimensions, Coordinate geometry of three dimensions, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Application of Calculus, Vectors, Sets, Relations & Mapping, Permutation & combination and Statistics & probability.

General Aptitude:

Objects, textures related to architecture & built environment. Interpretation of pictorial compositions, visualizing three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawing. Analytical reasoning, mental ability (visual, numerical and verbal) awareness of national/international architects and their creations. Visualizing different sides of 3D objects.

Drawing Test:

Understanding scale and proportion of objects, geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, colour texture, harmony and contrast. Drawing of patterns – both geometrical and abstract. Conceptualization and visualization. Form transformations in 2D and 3D like union, subtraction, rotation, surfaces and volumes. Creating 2D and 3D compositions using given shape and forms. Generating plan, elevation, and 3D views of objects. Perspective drawing, sketching of urban scape and landscape.

NATA 2017 Result Date

Students can appear for the NATA exam on 16th April 2017. The NATA Result 2017 will be declared by 10th June 2017. On the basis of the NATA score card, candidates can apply for admission in the respective college. For admissions, candidates have to participate in the counselling procedure and other admission rounds organized by the respective university or college.
